Hi, I’m Debbie Mowl and for over 5 years now, I have been helping dogs in Romania. I have travelled to Romania on numerous occasions to help specific rescue groups, especially with their Spay & Neuter programmes, collecting street dogs to be neutered; one of the Veterinary groups I got to know was T.A.C (Translavania Animal Care ).
Back in February 2018, in one of TAC posts on Facebook, I saw mention of a small group of ladies known as “Sirius Animal Rescue”. I researched this group and was extremely impressed by the work they did, the dogs are kept free roaming on secure land, rather than in enclosures, resulting in better socialisation.
It was very clear to me that they had no support and were really struggling. I offered to fund raise for them to feed the small amount of dogs in their care and I also raised funds for them to spay/neuter street and owned dogs; this is my passion and the only way to stop the suffering of the many unwanted puppies.
One of the dogs in their care was a very nervous three month old dog, she and her two brothers had been born in a hut at the side of the river with no human contact and having to hunt for food. They had no love and were just trying to survive.
This girl (Jinni) got deep inside my heart, and I decided I wanted to adopt her and have her brought to the UK.
It was a waiting game as her skin was in a terrible state and she had to have treatment for a long time.
I needed to find someone with much experience of homing dogs to the UK – if this beautiful girl was to come to me and if we were going to bring more dogs to homes in the UK.
I knew just the person – Marilyn Angell – who has been in the world of dog rescue for many years. I crossed my fingers and contacted her, asked her for help, and she agreed.
From this EVERMORE DOG RESCUE was born. We are now a Registered charity and have now rehomed over 430 Dogs to the UK and spay/neutered many street dogs.
Darling Jinni arrived to me in April 2018 and was the first EVERMORE dog to travel to the UK. It’s been a long journey, helping her to trust people and feel comfortable in her environment, together we have taken one day at a time and, whilst she’s made great progress, there’s still a way to go.
Now we have a large following on Facebook (@Evermoredogrescue), Twitter and Instagram. People can sponsor (and name) a dog for only £10 month which helps towards the food for the dogs. People can adopt a dog direct from Romania to the UK, or we have some dogs brought to foster in the UK and then subsequently rehomed. Our rehoming partner is based in Newark, Nottinghamshire and a number of our dogs are sent there every month for rehoming.
